Therapy to reflect every part of you
Hi, I’m Kris Thorpe, LCSW.
I believe the action of therapy is achieved through the building of a safe, collaborative, and trusting relationship between client and therapist. Two people come together, with their individual identities, and construct a space to facilitate growth, change, and insight. In this space we can begin to explore experiences of trauma, relationship, conflict and intention. It is through this exploration that we can begin understand our relationship to the world.
As a gay therapist myself, It is my goal to help queer people to manage their inner critics, tackle anxiety, confront depression, build healthy relationships, and to live more fulfilling lives
I approach psychotherapy from a person-centered and individualistic framework. My main orientation and approach is psychodynamic talk therapy, supplemented by the use of CBT, DBT, and systems theory as appropriate. I have experience working with Queer and LGBTQIA+ folks navigating issues of belonging, sex, sexuality, relationships and gender.

Don't know what to say? Here’s a few tips:
1. Share who you are, and what brings you to think about therapy?
2. What are you looking for (i.e. an initial consult or a question about fees or insurance)?
3. When are you available, and how to reach you (phone, text or email)?
4. If all else fails, just say “Hi! I wanna talk about therapy.”
